Census Records
The area now known as Canyon County was part of Boise County in 1863 when Idaho Territory was created. When Ada County was formed in 1864, it included Canyon County. When Canyon County was formed in 1891 it included southern Gem County and Payette County. Gem County was split off in 1915 and Payette County was split off in 1917.
